Cognizant, after its recent layoffs and restructuring, is planning to hire more than 20,000 tech graduates in 2020. The graduates should be digitally ready in order to be hired by cognizant. Along with this, the freshers’ salary is being increased by 30% which is Rs.4,00,000 per year.
A company executive from Cognizant said that they are looking to hire graduates from engineering, science, management departments. Also, they are planning to hire experienced individuals as well. Cognizant is expanding its base in India, with a new center opened at Mangalore last week. This can accommodate up to 1100 employees. Currently, Cognizant has around 80 clients in the country. Cognizant’s digital revenue is growing by more than 20% this year.
Cognizant CEO said that the acceptance rate of Cognizant’s offer from various top engineering colleges in the country is around 80%. This hiring happened after the layoffs of around 7000 employees, which is a total of 2% of its overall employee count across the globe.
Teamlease, a recruitment service compiled data of salaries stated that the salaries of entry-level employees increased by around 15% between 2017 and 2019. The salary of mid level employees grew around 11% in the same period.
