On Tuesday, the Karnataka government had announced the ease of restrictions in some parts of the state, where the impact has been reduced to some extent. Also, it announced that IT companies should continue to work from home until July end.
Following the color-coded strategy, the government has allowed some economic activity in the state to help the state which is suffering without cash.
Karnataka’s primary and secondary education minister, Mr. Suresh, on Tuesday said that these guidelines can help with more clarity on the businesses to operate on red, green, and orange zones. He further said that there will be no changes in the red zones to continue operations. Some of the red zone areas are Bengaluru Urban, Belagavi, Mysuru, Vijayapura, Bagalkote, Kalaburagi, Bidar, and Dakshina Kannada. These districts constitute the most number of COVID cases in the state and have more than one red zones
Bengaluru has the highest of IT companies in the country and due to the COVID, almost all of them are working from home. 61 cases out of total 295 in the Karnataka state are from the Bengaluru city region. The city has been one of the red zones in the state.
While some regions of the state were relaxed, this decision was taken after Modi had announced to all the state CM’s to take their own decisions and ease restrictions based on the analysis. But social distancing and wearing masks are mandatory in almost all regions.
Karnataka government has been trying to open businesses for the tax revenue, especially the sale of liquor which is the best source for tax revenue of the state. But due to a rise in the number of cases has forced the government to stop reopening any business until May 3rd.
The government also said that it is the duty of the employer to take care of their employees by enabling social distancing or asking the employees to wear the mask. Employers should also look at allowing their employees to extend their work from home until the situation comes under control.
